Glad to be back - and a little more focused!


It's never too late to raise the bar on your physical performance.

Greetings to all!


Yes, the prodigal blogger has returned, dusted off the keyboard and is ready to hit the 'Publish' button once again. You might have thought I'd let this little corner of the internet grow weeds, but in reality, I've just been living my version of an old proverb about the cobbler's children having no shoes. For me, it's the tale of a blogger too busy living life to blog about it!

Business, thankfully, has been good, and that has little time for idle typing. But as I recently checked in on my website – with a little trepidation – and noticed the metaphorical cobwebs growing, I realized there’s no point in letting it languish any longer.


Now, for those who remember me as an 'auto aficionado,' you might be surprised to learn that I've switched gears (pun intended). I'm no longer knee-deep in the automotive sphere. Those high-octane days of reviewing the latest and greatest vehicles have gently receded in my rear-view mirror. Although occasionally revisiting them is not out of the question.

So, what's next, you ask? What has me inspired enough to shake off the dust and resume blogging?


High-performance aging.


Now, before you think I've lost my marbles and began obsessing about potions and miracle cures, let me assure you, it’s not about that. High-performance aging isn't “anti-aging,” rather, it's about embracing the joy of experience, the value of accumulated wisdom, and the strength of a body and mind that can get better with age (or at least decline less rapidly) – if we’d stop sabotaging it.

As a proud middle-ager, my fascination has peaked with this more positive and productive approach to getting older. It's about seeing 'age' not as a chronological measure, but as a combination of biological and functional aspects. After all, isn't the traditional way of counting age – the number of times the Earth has orbited the sun – a bit limited? Does it tell us anything about a person’s mindset, vitality, or capabilities?


I’m getting tired of marketers assuming that with advancing age, we develop an insatiable interest in pain medications, hearing and mobility aids, funeral planning, and adult diapers. WTF? This snapshot of old age is one that couldn’t suck any more.


High-performance aging is about remaining at the top of our game, mentally, and physically. It’s about preserving and enhancing the flexibility of our minds, the strength of our bodies, and the capacity for growth and learning. It’s about focusing more on keeping ourselves in peak condition, regardless of how many candles were on our last birthday cake.


In this new chapter, I'll share my journey as I continue to choose dynamism and drive over decrepitude, not to mention occasionally venting about the still too prevalent view that becoming a bent-over shell of your former self (in a wheelchair, walker, or with a cane) is inevitable.


And because I’m not a doctor, I won’t be dispensing medical advice, but instead sharing some of my own experiences – in other words, what is working (or not working) for me. Always consult with your own doctor before embarking on an exercise program or taking any supplements – we are all starting this journey from a different place.


Whether I’ve discovered something interesting through peer-reviewed science or simply found a new way to think about a problem (remember your mind has a profound effect on your health), I hope to cultivate a space for meaningful conversation around what it truly means to age well.


Here's to a new start, to embracing the journey, and to the joy of sharing stories, experiences, and wisdom. After all, every revolution around the sun brings with it a wealth of knowledge and memories - let's make each one count.
